LEADERS vs MANAGERS
"Failing organizations are usually over-managed and under-led"- Warren G. Bennis
How to spot LEADERS from MANAGERS:
1. Leaders deal with change while managers deal with status quo.
2. Leaders work on the system while managers work with the system
3. Leaders create and seek opportunities while managers control risks and react on what's happening
4. Leaders change organizational rules while managers enforce organizational rules
5. Leaders are visionaries and got different strategies while managers just seek and then follow directions
6. Leaders motivate people by achieving their goals while managers control people by pushing them in the right direction
7. Leaders coach followers, create self-leaders,and empower them while managers just provide instructions to people.
Leaders have the freedom to lead while managers are being restricted to follow rules . Both are effective to different kinds of people. Some prefer to be a leader and some prefer to be managers. There are people who chose to be led and some chose to be managed. All you need to do is just to decide whether you want to be a leader or be led, or, you want to be a manager or be managed.
