While watching Manny Pacquiao’s fight yesterday, I realize that in any game of life, if you stay on the defensive side, you will not definitely win the game. Credits were given to Joshua Clottey for standing up until the 12th round and an awesome defense but this made him lose a great fight of his life. Out of 12 rounds, he only got 1 round. Yes, he didn’t fall down and give Manny another TKO win but isn’t it everyone’s dream is to win the game? I wonder what Clottey was thinking that time when he was in the ring, having the fight of his life and just making the best defensive move in the entire game? What was his goal then?
Same thing as what I’ve read from Bo Sanchez’s 8 Secrets of the Truly Rich. He said that there are 3 kinds of individual when it comes to achieving one’s desire:
1. Moviegoer- someone who will just tell the world all her comments about the movie. She will just express her emotions but she can’t change the storyline of the movie into what she wants.
2. Actor- someone who will going to follow and say everything what’s written on the script. These are the type of persons who want to just go-with-the-flow and still they don’t control the story.
3. Actor-Scriptwriter- someone who has control in the whole story. These persons are the one who act and the same time write the script of their own movie. They create the script into what they want to happen.
In the event, I think Clottey played just as an actor. He just let Pacquiao control the fight by creating the best defensive stance. But Pacquiao, doing the actor-scriptwriter role, led him to add another victory in his record and keep the title. He was able to control the fight by being on the offensive side. He was able to create his strategy on how to end the fight.
This only means that at the beginning of a game, we are given a CHOICE if we want to be on the defensive or on the offensive side. We are the only one who can control, dictate and create our future. NOBODY ELSE! What role are you going to play to achieve your goals and be successful? Are you going to be the same as Joshua Clottey, just be on the defensive side and let others control the game of your life for you? or be like Manny Pacquiao who controlled the fight and made his way on how he wanted to win and end it?
